A $156 non-refundable reservation payment is required to reserve a whole hog. Of this payment, $150 is applied to your final farm balance and $6 is a reservation and administrative fee.
🧾 How the Final Cost Works
Customers are responsible for three payment components:
- Reservation payment, paid directly to Roswell Family Farm. For a half hog, $100 of the $105 payment is applied toward your final farm balance. For a whole hog, $150 of the $156 payment is applied toward your final farm balance. The remaining $5 or $6 is a reservation and administrative fee.
- Remaining hanging-weight balance, paid directly to Roswell Family Farm after the processor reports the official hanging weight and before the finished pork is released for pickup.
- Processing and butcher fees, paid directly to the processor.
Processing estimates are provided for planning purposes. The actual butcher bill depends on the hog’s final weight, processor, packaging and your cut selections.
Bacon, smoked hams, sausage links, hot dogs, cheese products, kielbasa, tomahawk racks and other specialty products can materially increase processing costs.
🔍 What Is Hanging Weight?
Hanging weight is the hog’s weight after slaughter but before it is cut and packaged. Final packaged pork is generally around 65–75% of the hanging weight.
The exact take-home amount depends on whether you select bone-in or boneless cuts and how much meat is cured, smoked or made into specialty products.

A $156 reservation payment for a whole hog or $105 reservation payment for a half hog is due when your reservation is made. The payment includes the applicable reservation and administrative fee.
We’ll coordinate delivery to the processor and notify you when it is time to submit your cutting instructions.
